ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR GDPD :
Admission is open to students who have passed or who will appear for qualifying examinations under the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalents like AISSCE/ IB/ ISC. Successful candidates shall be given admission to the academic programme, by the institute, subject to their passing the qualifying examinations. The medium of instruction at NID is English. Allotment of the discipline of choice at the end of Foundation year is NOT guaranteed. Discipline allotment takes place only at the end of the first year (Foundation Programme), based purely on student's performance in the Foundation Programme and the number of seats available in desired discipline.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR PGDPD : Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent including those who will be appearing for the qualifying examinations during the academic year (2013-14) in the areas mentioned against each discipline are eligible to apply. Those applying for two programmes should send separate application form for each programme. One cannot apply for more than two PG Programmes. The medium of instruction for PG Programme at NID is English. Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 1, 2013.

NIFT - National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It has emerged as the premier Institute of Design, Management and Technology, developing professionals for taking up leadership positions in fashion business in the emerging global scenario. NIFT has been granted statutory status under the act of Parliament of India in 2006, empowering the Institute to award degrees and other academic distinctions.

NIFT SYLLABUS FOR
General Ability Test (GAT)
1) Quantitative Ability: This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub test consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio and Proportion, and Distance.
2) Communication Ability: This sub-test is aimed at testing the language ability of the candidates in day to day communication in English. It includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings, etc.
3) English Comprehension: This sub-test is to test one's ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage.
4) Analytical Ability: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate's inference and logic from the given
information.
5) General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate's general knowledge and current affairs.
Creative Ability Test (CAT) : This test is administered to judge the intuition skill, power of observation, innovation in development of a concept and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative medium use of colour and illustration skills.
Managerial Ability Test (MAT) : It is a test to judge the managerial effectiveness. This test comprises of various sub-tests as given below: 1) Case Study 2) Logical Ability
1) Case Study : This sub-test is based on a situation of an industry environment. It helps to evaluate the candidate's managerial ability.
2) Logical Ability : This sub-test is aimed to evaluate the candidate's ability to identify the logic or reason
involved in a particular problem given and applying the logic in solving the problem. Concepts and practice of creative and lateral thinking are likely to be useful. Short listed candidates from the written entrance
examination are required to undergo situation test/Group Discussion (GD) / Interview as applicable.
Situation Test : Shortlisted candidates from the written entrance examination are required to undergo a Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate's skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials.
Group Discussions : Case Study based Group Discussions would comprise of approximately 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on a case study assigned on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on the following parameters: 1) Conceptual clarity 2) Knowledge of the topic assigned
3) Contributions made to the topic
4) Interpersonal skills
5) Ability to generate new ideas 6) Problem solving approach7) Leadership qualities 8) Effective communication
Personal Interview : A candidate is judged on the various parameters during individual personal interview by a panel, as listed below : 1) Career orientation 2) Aptness for the field 3) Overall personal achievements in academics and co curricular activities 4) Communication 5) General awareness and aptitude, creative and lateral thinking are likely to be useful.
Weightage Chart : The weightage assigned to each test in the final merit list of the entrance examination will be as under: In case of the score being equal, the older candidate according to the date of birth will be given preference.
The Computer Based Test will be conducted only for B.FTech., M.F.M. and M.FTech.

Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED/IIT) is an all India examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay), on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of Education About CEED, Government of India. |

CEED is a qualifying examination for admission to Post Graduate programs (M.Des.) at the Industrial Design Centre ( IIT Bombay ) , Instrument Design and Development Centre (IIT Delhi), Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing ( IISc Bangalore) and Design Program ( IIT Kanpur ) . CEED qualifications in itself does not guarantee admission to the above mentioned programs. Candidates also have to fulfill other requirements such as tests & interviews of the respective institutions for admission. CEED examination tests the candidates for visual perception ability, drawing skills, design aptitude and communication skills.
Eligibility for CEED : Candidates must either have completed or be expecting to complete any of the following, by July 2007:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent
- Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT, or equivalent)
- B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2)
- G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year professional experience Master's degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications

CEED Exam Structure : CEED examination will the test your drawing skills, aesthetics, sensibility, creativity, problem identification ability, your approach to visual & mechanical design, visual perception ability, design aptitude and communication skills. It will test your ability to, creatively & appropriately solve simple design problems, problem analysis, alternate concepts, justifications for your solutions, visual & textual presentation skills, visualization, general awareness and comprehension.
CEED examination will consist of two parts. First part tests your drawing skills, aesthetics, sensibility , creativity, problem identification and your approach to visual and mechanical design. The second part will be objective type, which will test your skills in visualization, creativity, design and general awareness, and comprehension.
